About the Role

We are looking for an Electronic Engineer at our Scotland office to work in a varied role across disciplines, taking responsibility to deliver projects to customers. Job Description

You will have a solid background in both software and hardware development, specifically automated test equipment, demonstrating knowledge of common test equipment and appropriate software architectures. An understanding of how to develop and debug complex, innovative electronic hardware will be required to support delivery.

You will need enthusiasm to take on new challenges and be a quick learner. Fast moving technologies, new concepts, complex problems and customer timescales will influence your day-to-day work. Often this involves an element of research and understanding technology that is seldom announced to the public and could be several years away from public release, so confidentiality is essential.

Good problem solving and communication skills is required to ensure you develop the best results, interfacing with customers directly and working with sales/marketing within Konrad Technologies to formulate design concepts. Experience in high volume automation in a production context would be beneficial.

In a growing company you will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, technologies or products, and become a domain expert. Collaborating with Konrad UK colleagues at offices in Bedford or Dunfermline, and/or managing machine or production builds in Germany, you will develop and deploy solutions within the Northern European (NER) region. In addition, providing assistance with large and often complex inter-company projects. Regular engagements will be required with our German HQ and development centres in Germany and USA. Dependent on customer deployments, you will be working in a diverse team of creative and talented engineers working with colleagues from around the world. This is a collaborative and dynamic working environment where colleagues respect and support each other. This role will require some international travel including the possibility of longer trips of 2 weeks duration.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop test solutions according to full lifecycle requirements working with both hardware & software
  • Utilise National Instrument (NI) hardware and software components including NI LabVIEW software
  • Debug from software to hardware level
  • Interface and control complex devices under test (DUTs)
  • Evaluate new systems, technologies and architectures
  • Understand performance testing and quality improvement
  • Work directly with customers on test and automation applications
  • Deploy solutions with customers, including deploying on-site for Factory Acceptance Fest (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), travelling internationally when necessary
  • Assist with customer requirements capture and develop new or modified test system specifications

 

Skills & Experience

We seek a talented Functional Manager of our Hardware Solutions Group to be responsible for the supervision of the assembly and integration of automated test equipment for the Military/Aerospace, Medical Device, Consumer Electronics, and Automotive Industries. This position requires exceptional technical aptitude, strong supervisory skills and the ability to work within a fast-paced environment. Major areas of responsibility include quotation development, resource management, sub-contractor management, assembly shop management and communications with other managers.  The successful candidate will have experience managing financial, schedule and quality risks on program delivery.  The position will have high visibility to senior management. 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working supervisor of 4-8 skilled trades personnel
  • Assign resources to projects and maximize resource utilization
  • Estimate work and develop schedules and plan manpower
  • Sequence and manage schedules to hit key milestones
  • Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic schematics for translation into finished products

Commissioning Engineer (m/f/d) Measurement and Automation

Duties and responsibilities

The scope of duties includes participation in various projects and project teams in the development, setup, testing and commissioning of Konrad test systems. The creation of test applications and test plans using NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand will be a major part of your tasks.

Experience in mechanical and electrical measurement technology will form a solid basis. Knowledge of reading schematics and an affinity for using test software is a prerequisite, as is the ability to learn about constantly changing problems and technologies. A large part of the working time is spent at the customer's site and requires a high degree of willingness to travel.
